It is obviously about branding and message.Jesus…this makes me really sad. My Little Pony was supposed to be a show about female empowerment and being an individual…and it’s now going to spark an era of carbon copy cartoons targetting dudes.
If it was inspiring shows that promoted the values of MLP - kindness, understanding, friendship - that would be awesome. But no…this just smacks of ‘be ironic and bro it up so adult men will likes us’. MLP got the adult following unintentionally, and that’s awesome. Getting adult male followings by purposely targetting them and ignoring your original demographic (little girls) is super shitty.
Little girls already are ignored or, when they get something targetting them, get absolute garbage made my condescending adults (men) who don’t even understand what the demographic want. They finally get a nice, quality show about them being whatever type of girl they want…and all this happens.
MLP has been, for the most part, good. I feel it hasn’t pandered to the Brony community too much, and it has still kept it’s target audience in mind as the priority. But this here…this just makes me upset.

Jesus christ it’s a fucking cartoon and it’s creator was excited to see the broad appeal of it. Stop painting all its fans as dudebroextreme fedora neckbeard masters because there are plenty of adult women who enjoy it as well, not to mention teenagers and older audiences who have their own kids who enjoy the show as well as their children.
I swear to god, people hamfisting jr. foundation year intro to gender studies semantics exercises to this shit need to stop. Adult men don’t collude behind your back to ruin everything. You sound just as fucking ridiculous as people who think, idk, a secret cabal of alien jewish neo-nazi bankers trying to manipulate western culture to destruction or some nutjob conspiratorial garbage from lala land.
A bunch of antisocial male fucks make rape jokes about cartoon horses while the silent majority enjoys the show like well-adjusted people and suddenly everyone who enjoys the show is seen as a male rape-joking nutjob fuck to you guys.
Neil Cicierega comes up with this idea that NO, PEOPLE SHOULDN’T ENJOY X BECAUSE THAT IS APPROPRIATION OF THINGS AGE GROUP Y OF SEX Z WERE MEANT TO ENJOY. What if you’re a parent of either sex? How does a good show hook the parent into enjoying the same thing their kid does? The little girl/boy who enjoys watching cartoon ponies run around, but the plot and clever jokes (read: not fart jokes) hook the parent. The point is to get the parent and child to bond and get something out of the same experience. MLP does a good damn job of that, so no there is no singular demographic (See: Little girls) meant to enjoy the show over anyone else.
There’s no definitive singular message of FEMALE EMPOWERMENT in my little pony. It teaches you how to deal with social anxieties mostly, IE: the season 1 rundown of all the characters weaknesses in their personality traits and how the characters overcome them with support from their friends. Furthermore it shows how to help friends who suffer from those social anxieties, you know, the whole FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC thing. The characters learn a generic moral/social lesson by example of the characters they identify with on screen. It teaches you how to be a better, friendlier, inclusive person in general and there are characters on the show that represent different ages and sexes as well, so out the window goes the LITTLE GIRLS ONLY thing. But still, it’s just a fucking cartoon, chill out. Smoke a blunt, eat some dorito tacos ha ha, doing it well.
It’s like /v/ screaming about games appealing to broader demographics (because that leads to better product success and broader demographic reach) because NOOO YOU AREN’T ALLOWED TO ENJOY THINGS BECAUSE ESOTERIC REASONS STEMMING FROM MY OWN ARCHAIC OPINION I KINDA READ ON TUMBLR ONCE AND SORTA REMEMBER THE JYST OF WHICH
If that same rule was applied to everything else, everyone over 19 shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy Korra since it’s a show meant for children and teenagers. Again with adults shitting up things meant for kids. Not to mention all the people *ALL THE PEOPLE* sexualizing the teenaged characters on that show. That’s barely legal in porn speak. All fandoms, especially among adults, are shit and you can expect that.
Also take note, Gravy: The “bronies” in the comments and just about everywhere else are laughing at this attempt to pander to them.
Hub is looking to get the bronies to enjoy their new show on top of the little girls who are the prime target demographic (See: stems from BUY ME THIS CAREBEAR FOR XMAS, MOMMY) for this show, not the creators, and if it were a show meant for “adult, fedora snacking men”, it wouldn’t be on the same roster as My Little Pony and Pound Puppies or what the fuck ever plays on that network for kids.

I fucking loathe Lady GaGa. Bravo, commentary!i hate lady gaga for so many reasons.
but i think her whole “jo calderone” thing is the worst one.
she uses people’s actual identities as this entertaining costume to gain more attention for herself. if she actually gave a shit about trans* people or even the queer community in general, she wouldn’t write shitty fucking songs like “born this way” and she wouldn’t say “oh, here we go again” when someone asks her a question criticizing the way she addresses the queer community.
if she actually gave a shit about trans* people you would hear her talking about them, not just dressing up. it’s all fucking theatrical, this is the same thing as when she used a wheelchair onstage. this is the same thing as when, during a photo shoot that was “asian inspired”, she squinted her eyes in every single picture. it’s the same shit. she’s a fucking commodity and this is the cheapest possible way to make oppressed minorities feel like “oh, she cares!”
she doesn’t.

YES! Dusk was absolutely amazing! The dance competitions at furcons always make me jealous, but this guy’s act made me wish I could have been there to see it live. His moves were so on-point, he is an amazing dancer and I’m nearly crying onto my laptop (it that dangerous?). ;A;
Yeah dust was one of the only good ones, there were alot of goodens but he was like the top imo

Recently I found a dog 4/30/12 in Whitelake Michigan. it’s a breed of corgi, he was found out in the rain on eagle lake road and white lake road. The dog must of wondered off because it didn’t look staved but he wasn’t collared, or chipped. Spread the word please
